The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime is arriving next season -- and we simply cannot wait. What can you look forward to? A projected driving range of 600+ miles, a gorgeous new infotainment system, LED lighting, industry-leading efficiency, and a four-seat layout.
Wait... four seats? What about that middle seat? Worried that you'll need to kick someone out of the carpool?
Fear not. According to sources, it looks like Toyota is planning to build out for fifth-passenger seating in the second-generation of the Prius Prime.
Autoblog reported:
"As Nathan Kokes, Toyota's brand manager for advanced technology vehicles, told us back in April when the Prime was unveiled, giving the Prime only four seats was important for the car's overall efficiency... If the rear were to seat three across, the car would need to have more reinforcing material and its 3.3-kW charger would need to be moved. Those changes are possible, and Koji Toshiyama said he's ready to make them happen."
Whether you prefer seating for four or five, we're holding on to hope that the new Prius Prime hybrid will be able to satisfy across the board within the next few years. In the meantime, you can explore your options for leasing a hybrid car in Corsicana through Stewart Toyota until you can get your hands on that perfect new Prius.
